I+D: Integral Cycle

Ilerdagua focuses on the commitment to innovation, sustainability and efficiency in water management.

Innovation and sustainability

At Ilerdagua, innovation is the driving force behind our work. In 2018 we started an ambitious research and development project to design an exclusive filtration system for the fruit industry.

This system makes it possible to reuse water from fruit washing ponds continuously for weeks, even months, achieving zero discharge in the process. Its development has been a significant technical challenge, but our experience of more than 15 years on the African continent, facing various difficulties in water management, has enabled us to overcome each obstacle.

Today, this compact and efficient system is a reality and is already in operation in numerous fruit plants throughout the country, helping to optimize water resources and reduce the environmental impact of the industry.

How does it work?

An efficient process
and sustainable

Water catchment

The wash water, loaded with soil, organic matter and chemical residues, is extracted from the wash basin by means of a submerged pump. This first step ensures a constant flow to the treatment system.

Conditioning and separation of solids

Prior to filtration, the water passes through a settling system that separates the larger and heavier particles, reducing the impurity load and improving the efficiency of the process.

Advanced filtration

The heart of the system is the Ilerdagua filter, specially designed for the fruit industry. It performs a double automatic washing process that removes sediments and suspended particles, keeping the water in perfect conditions for its reuse.

Disinfection

To ensure microbiological safety, the treated water is precisely dosed with a disinfectant oxidant, the concentration of which is monitored in real time. This prevents the proliferation of fungi and bacteria, ensuring a hygienic environment without the need for excess chemicals.

Recirculation and reuse of water

Once treated, the water returns to the rendered pond, ready to be reused in the process without the need for additional pumping. This allows for a drastic reduction in water consumption and a more efficient operation.

Waste management and maintenance

The system also manages the solid waste separated during the process, storing it in a tank where it is dewatered for controlled disposal. This minimizes liquid waste and facilitates its sustainable management.

Benefits

Control, efficiency and sustainability

Water cleanliness

Effectively removes dirt, improving fruit washing efficiency.

Zero discharge

System designed to reuse and minimize water waste.

Consumption reduction

Water can be kept in use for up to 2 months, saving more than 1000 m³ in 4 weeks.

Better disinfection

Maintains optimum levels of disinfectant, eliminating fungi and bacteria.
